Claire Hope, better known online as Lil Tay, passed away on Wednesday, according to a post on her verified Instagram. The young rapper’s father and ex-manager, however, told they were unable to confirm the young woman’s death.
The death of the online sensation was conveyed as “sudden and tragic” and “completely unexpected” in an Instagram message. Her brother, Jason Tian, was also reported to have passed away. The statement stated that both situations were under investigation.

The Instagram account, which has been used to spread false accusations against her father and spark a contentious custody battle, has purportedly been run by her brother, Jason Tian in the past.
When contacted for comment, Lil Tay’s father, Christopher Hope, informed Insider that he was unable to address the Instagram post and that he would not confirm the status of his daughter.
Likewise, Harry Tsang, the star’s former manager, told Insider that the matter required “cautious consideration” and that he was unable to confirm or refute the rumors at this time.
Both the county medical examiner and the Los Angeles Police Department were unaware of any investigations into any Claire Hope-related deaths.
Lil Tay, who is nine years old, became well-known in 2018 after posting sensationalized videos of herself rapping and using foul language on Instagram about leading a wealthy lifestyle. The Canadian performer dubbed the “youngest flexer of the century,” was well-known for working on videos with rappers like Chief Keef and XXXTentacion. She also faced a lot of backlash for using the N-word and stealing hip-hop language.
As The Cut in New York reported in 2019, Tay’s brother Jason started managing a significant portion of her social media presence at the age of 16. The two, along with their mother Angela Tian, were accused of “taking meetings and discussing deals without signing any contracts,” which led to a lot of “confusion” in the sector at the time.
Her death had not been reported, according to the Vancouver Police Department, and no investigation was being conducted. In Vancouver, British Columbia, Lil Tay was raised.

After being inactive for several years, Lil Tay’s Instagram account was reactivated in 2021 when posts that appeared to be written by her brother accused him of abusing them physically and mentally and of stealing all of Tay’s money. Hope responded to these accusations at the time with a cease-and-desist letter to Instagram.
